October 2022, my wife surprises me with a trip to Grand Caneria for my 40th. Its an incredible surprise and soon after found myself touching down at las pamas airport. Arriving at the hotel we were greeted with a tropical paradise, a hotel that stood tall and proud. This was going to be a week to remember….
The next morning came and like many we awoke instantly relaxed and looking forward to the day. As we headed down for a what was to be expected, a beautifully presented breakfast we noticed a number of sun lounges already with towels and bags on… People couldnt be reserving the sunbeds.. could they?
If you cant beat them join them I was told by another resident of the hotel. Each morning we watched the same ritual people getting up before light to go down and reserve a bed. For it to then be vacant for hours to come. It wasnt uncommon to see these beds empty until after lunch.
The frustration was seen and heard by others walking around looking for a spare bed to enjoy the sun and take a tip in the crystal clear water. \“What a disapointment\” was said by one while another exclaimed \“We didnt pay all this money to then not be able to sit down\” Looking at the review sites this was not an isolated incident time after time what should have been a glowing review was spoilt by comments referring to sunbeds being reserved but empty for hours on end.
A pain for so many including the hotels in question. One negative experience can put a stain on a 5 * review. While that review can also have a negative impact on the hotel. I have an idea I thought……
So the sunbed revolution began……
